From 7th to 9th August 2025, the Centre Director for the Character Education Programme, Peter King’ori, represented the institution at the 51st Association for Moral Education (AME) Conference held at Tampere University, Finland.

The annual conference brought together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners from over 40 countries under the theme “Caring About and For Others: Teaching & Learning to Care.”

During the event, Peter presented his research titled “Cultivation of Character Strengths Among Adolescent Students Through Positive Intervention.” His presentation highlighted the importance of nurturing character strengths such as humility, gratitude, forgiveness, courage, and self-control among adolescents.

Peter emphasized that developing these strengths can motivate students to act ethically, engage responsibly in society, and demonstrate democratic values. He noted that schools should create environments where adolescents can internalize, practice, and model these character traits in meaningful ways.

In addition, Peter serves as a Board Member of the Association for Moral Education and Chairperson of the Poster Award Committee. In this role, he collaborated with fellow committee members to evaluate poster submissions and select the winner of the Poster Award, which recognized outstanding contributions to research in moral development and education.
